I have to honestly say that when I first heard that I was going to be writing about the "Rubber Ball 2005" a fleeting image of a crazy scientist did appear in my mind's eye -- someone who was deprived as a child of any rudimentary playthings, so he designed some super ball that out bounced, out zipped and out rolled any other in the world all in an effort to make up for his tragic childhood. I said it was fleeting. You might imagine my surprise when I figured out it had more to do with people in tight shiny clothes and not so much (but still a little) to do with actual rubber balls. Seriously, anyone with even a passing knowledge of the fetish world understands that Skin Two's Rubber Ball is the granddaddy of them all, the prince among fetish events. "The world's premier celebration of fetish glamour and style," as their site says, is modest in the extreme, and doesn't even begin to cover it. Other fetish balls may kick serious ass, but this one long ago finished takin' names. No other celebration compares.
Which just goes to show....maybe my original theory was not that far off. Instead of the deprived child I had imagined, our loose cannon scientist was in fact blessed with a veritable plethora of play things as a child. He was actually given all his tiny heart desired and it seems obvious that at least some of his favorite trinkets were bouncy, resilient or pliable. Add to that the fabulous box of dress up things that he wasn't supposed to know about in the back of Mum and Dads closet and I think we are nearing the birth of our new super ball. Those shiny-clothing-clad-minxes over at SKIN TWO, along with Absolute Productions and the Rubber Ball production team are the folks behind this hootenanny. This year's ball will feature the theme (said through a megaphone in a warehouse prone to many echoes) Retro Fetish … Fetish … fetish. That's right! It is coming together after all! Our kink minded Einstein is in fact reliving his days prancing about the flat in Mum and Dads best Fetish wear while he played 'strict disciplinarian' (my favorite), and we are invited to join him. Ahhh! I can feel the latex rapture embrace me. Now, what does our mad genius's party plan include? Friday, 7th of October is the first event at Play Bar in EC1, the SKIN TWO Cocktail Party. Everything starts at 7:30 pm and goes on until 3am. This event is a great starting point for the evening's second event, Torture Garden. There will be a free shuttle to transport all of you non-designated driver types over to the Torture Garden, the shuttle runs from 11:30pm - 1:30am. Torture Garden is being held at Canvas in Kings Cross. You will be entertained by stage shows, instillations, and great music while you smell the many beautiful flowers bound and tightly wrapped at Torture Garden.
Saturday and Sunday is your chance to expand that collection of rubber bits at The Expo which is being held in The Barbican Exhibition Hall. You will be (mis)treated to over 100 stalls of the finest in fetish clothes, equipment and accessories. Take your time to peruse the great selection of bobbles and bits in preparation for the Rubber Ball. This is the perfect chance to buy a whole new outfit or accessorize that faboo little number that you already own. The SKIN TWO Rubber Ball is on Saturday evening and is being held at London's largest nightclub, SEOne in London Bridge, SE1. Remember, the theme is Retro Fetish, so come decked out in your very best in historical fetish gear. Maybe it's time to bust out your Victorian corset or maybe you just want to wiggle your waddle in that '70s porn star way. How about a 40's pin-up uniform or a little burlesque number? Whatever your favorite era of fetish gone by may be, dress it up and show it off for the entire ball to see! Models expected to be in attendance include Darenzia, Aprella, Storm, Angela Ryan, Ava Koska, Harlot Rouge, Kittie Klaw, Miss Conduct, Sophia Landi, and many others.
This evening's haps will include a dungeon for you to have some play time in (the childhood memories abound) as well as great music from two amazing DJs, Stewart Bennet and Commie from the Ministry of Sound. They will be playing dirty breaks and beats in the Balls Main Room from 12pm - 4am. There will also be a funk-a-fied 60's/70's disco-rama hosted by Carwash. And then as the final slap in the ass to a fun filled weekend, save some energy for the SKIN TWO Rubber Ball Weekend finale being held at Sahara Nights in Kings Cross. The finale begins at 6:30pm and will be running until 2am. This is your last, best chance to show off all of your new accessories and favorite rubbers. And let it be known that the spirit of my dream-induced mad scientist will be looking forward to seeing what you made of his risqué rubber made brainchild.
