The site offers about 70 shoots, each of them with several video clips; as with other Kink.com sites, viewers can comment on shoots, as can (and often do) the models and producers. The content is definitely in the "hard" category as far as bondage and SM goes; this is intense stuff, focusing on the fantasies of tops and bottoms who want not the elegance of rope bondage or the visceral body-on-body contact of Kink's Sex and Submission, but the cold, agonizing complexity of bondage and punishment with complicated contraptions. Each girl has a very personal interaction with the bondage, with Cyd's comments on each shoot being tailored very closely to the proclivities of the actress and Cyd's own perverse desires for her.
Particularly evident is the horror-movie esthetic with which the site presents its dark fare; the fuel of this site, as with all my favorite bondage and SM sites, is fear and a perverse pleasure in it -- causing or experiencing it. In that, Device Bondage reminds me of another great site now defunct, Insex. The teasers, presented as collages as if in one-image trailers for the video shows, are as disturbing as they are tempting. Nowhere is this more evident than in the spectacularly powerful "Heat," starring the lovely Arachnia Webb. Says Cyd in the intro to the presentation:
"I had one purpose in my mind for the shoot: lock the girl in a cage and make her sweat. A lot. Put an electric heater under her. Chain her head, wrists, ankles and waist so she could barely move. Make her suffer. Until there was begging and crying. Preferably both….I got my wish, although she stuck it out for a long time before the harness gag got her. In other instances, the sadism is directly related to the actress's personality -- Cyd seems to consider it his mission to limit the perkiness in the world, as with Sabrina Sparx. This shoot could alternatively be titled 'Sabrina Sparx gets an attitude adjustment.' When it's done, all the giggling has ceased."
This is intense sadism, and the thing I like best about Device Bondage is that it gives you a look into the mind of an extreme sadist -- Cyd -- through the intros and comments to each update. Cyd is not the only top in evidence here; for example, when Jade Marxxx and Sarah Jane Ceylon show up, he shares topping duties with Claire Adams in "what evolves into an outrageous and brutal BDSM event," featuring extreme bondage and harsh punishment. In another live shoot with Julie Night, Cyd takes the concept of "device" to new heights, reducing it to the molecular level when he demonstrates what's known as his infamous "lava sauce" -- hot sauce smeared on a bottom's genitals and resulting in, to put it politely, some extreme sensations.
Occasionally, Cyd takes a day off, as in the appropriately-titled "Cyd's Day Off" with Sarah Faye, where standin Damon Pierce subjects Sarah to the attentions of a fucking machine, locks her in cage and sets her on a swing.
As webmaster of DeviceBondage.com, Black reportedly "was one of the first to claim his corner of the castle" when Kink.com recently moved into San Francisco's Armory building.
